The
much-awaited Pune Book Festival 2024, jointly organized by the Ministry of
Education, National Book Trust (NBT), and Savitribai Phule Pune University,
promises to be a spectacular literary and cultural event. The festival will
occur from December 14 to 22 at the Ferguson College Ground.
One
of the festival's highlights is the innovative program "Shantata… Punekar
Vachat Ahet" (Silence… Punekars Are Reading), scheduled for December 11
from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. This initiative encourages lakhs of Punekars to read
simultaneously, wherever they may be. Participants will register via a QR code,
providing the book title, reading location, and a photo.
The
Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce actively participated in this
program. Over 120 students and staff members read books and uploaded the
required information on the provided link. The event's emphasis on inclusivity
and creativity inspired staff and students to explore the joy of reading.
The
Principal of Poona College, Dr. Shaikh Iqbal, along with IQAC Coordinator Dr.
Shaikh Shirin, Director of the Knowledge Resource Centre Dr. Shaikh Muhammad
Zuber, Coordinator Library Advisory Committee Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Shakir, and Associate
Professor Dr. Sayyed Iliyas, and NSS Programme Officer Dr. Sayyed Akbar were
present and participated in the reading activity.
