Library Orientation – Know Your Library
The primary goal of the college library is to provide material that may require upgrading the knowledge of the student to promote the quality of education. In this modern era, the tendency of students to visit the library has suffered a major setback due to instant access available on platforms (such as Google and others) which is a major cause of concern in academic circles. To combat this trend, the Department of Library and Information Science of our college organized a campaign entitled “Know Your Library” from 10th September 2018 to 29th September 2018 to inculcate reading habits among the students and an affinity to access the library for references and knowledge up-gradation.
Each class and division was allocated a time slot (timetable attached) during which all the students of that class/division had been introduced to the category of books/journals/literary stuff/subjects available in the library, their locations and the procedure to access them. They were also given a demo on how to use the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), free online resources available for the students, a demo of NLIST and NDL India, and NPTEL online courses. A total of eight hundred and thirty-three (833) students visited the library.
