The Knowledge Resource Centre Director Dr. Shaikh Muhammad
Zuber A. M. presented the welcome address. He spoke about the importance of
NPTEL in providing high-quality online education to students and professionals.
He also highlighted the various courses offered by NPTEL and the benefits of
enrolling in these courses.
Principal, Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce Prof.
Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh delivered the introductory speech and while speaking he
presented detailed information on courses and no. of students studying at
college. He encouraged the staff and students of Poona College to enrol for
the courses, learn from the IIT, IIM, and IISc scholars and get certified which
will eventually help them to make prosperous careers in their desired field. He
said “NPTEL courses are a great way to upskill and upgrade knowledge, free to
enrol and can be accessed from anywhere in the world. If you are looking for
high-quality online education, I would recommend NPTEL. The courses are
well-designed and informative, and the instructors are experts in their field.
I am sure you will benefit greatly from enrolling in an NPTEL course”.
Mrs. Nisha Thakur, was the keynote speaker from IIT Bombay.
She gave a detailed overview of NPTEL and "How NPTEL is Changing the
Landscape of Online Education in India.". She also discussed the various
features of NPTEL, such as its interactive lectures, video tutorials,
doubt-solving sessions, types of certificates, grading system, statistical
details regarding no. of video lectures, enrollments, details of local
chapters, career opportunities, etc. She also shared tips on how to make the
most of NPTEL courses.
Dr. Muhammad Zuber Director, Knowledge Resource Centre,
Local Chapter Coordinator and a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the
SWAYAM/NPTEL courses at Poona College gave a presentation on the topic ‘Local
Chapter Initiatives at Poona College’ where detailed information regarding
the enrollments of faculty and students is mentioned. He also informed the
participants that every year newly enrolled students during the induction
programme and library visits are informed about what MOOC (Massive Online Open
Courses), SWAYAM/NPTEL and how this initiative helps the students to acquire
knowledge. He also stated the directives of UGC and the credit points system
for undergraduate students.
The question-and-answer session was yet another fruitful session where students posted questions related to credit points, multiple enrollments, career prospects, fee waivers, etc. Ms. Nisha Thakur answered all the questions patiently and in detail. In the end, Dr Muhammad Zuber presented the vote of thanks.
