A National Level Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Understanding Plagiarism for Academic Integrity” was jointly organized by the Department of Library & Information Science and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on Thursday, 29th March 2018 in the PIMSE conference hall. The FDP was inaugurated by the renowned Information scientist and former Principal Technical Officer of CSIR- NCL Dr.N.B.Dahibhate who also delivered the keynote address. He highlighted the critical importance of preventing the growing plagiarism menace in the academic community. He also inaugurated the NLIST and NDL India local chapters and enrolled the staff and students of Poona College in both e-learning consortia.
Prof. (Ms.) Jacinta Bastian and Dr. Intekhab Alam were the guests of honour and resource persons who elaborated on the UGC and university plagiarism policies and conducted live sessions on the Anti-plagiarism tools. The Vice-Chairman of the library advisory committee Dr. Tarique Imam was also present during the FDP deliberations.
The IQAC coordinator and Vice-Principal Mr. Iqbal Shaikh welcomed the guests and participants and highlighted on the need for such FDPs from the value-addition and accreditation point of view. The FDP Coordinator Dr. Muhammad Zuber presented the FDP theme and introduced the chief guest and guest of honour.
The FDP received a tremendous response with a substantial number of participants, many of whom were from other institutions. The FDP concluded by vote of thanks proposed by the Vice-Principal Mr. Moinuddin Khan. The FDP was convened by Mr. Musharraf Hussain.
