One-day
Institution Level Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Designing
Learner-Centric MOOC” was successfully conducted on 03rd February
2024 which was jointly organized by the Department of Library and Information
Science and Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the Poona College of Arts,
Science and Commerce, Pune.
The FDP
Coordinator Dr. Muhammad Zuber, welcomed the chief guest and resource person Mr. Ganesh Lokhande,
Founder/Director of an Education Technology Company Digital Solutions, Pune,
and all other dignitaries. The FDP opened up with the recitation of sacred
verses by the Head of the Political Science Department Dr. Ahmad Shamshad.
IQAC
Coordinator-Vice-Principal Dr. Iqbal Shaikh highlighted the
significance of MOOC in today’s digital world. Principal Prof. Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh, then addressed the audience, bringing
to light the organizing of such events as the need of the hour. He extorted the
audience to take up the challenge of producing MOOC enthusiastically leading to
a paradigm shift in educational platforms.
The
Coordinator then formally introduced the Chief Guest, Mr. Ganesh Lokhande, who has many feathers in his hat, including
his expertise in training thousands of teachers across the country on creating
e-content and teaching online. Plus, he is also a course team member for some
MOOCs offered through the SWAYAM platform (a Government of India initiative).
Later he was felicitated by the Principal.
After
the felicitation the resource person began his talk, bringing to notice the
basic concept behind MOOC, how it is being organized, and how it offers
opportunities to teachers across all the spectrums. He also dwelled on how
teachers have to make their presentations or develop their course content which
should appeal to the students and how the time frame has to be managed. The
speaker interacted freely with the faculty members, making it a dialogue.
Teachers too put up their queries which he answered diligently and in a
thoroughly professional manner. The 4-Quadrant model which is the essence and
main component in developing a MOOC course was elaborated. He also explained
the different platforms of MOOC, the benefits of e-learning, the MOOC
perspective in terms of NAAC, being autonomous, the 8-step process, and the
flow chart of video creation.
The
presentation was followed by a Question and Answer session which the resource
person answered convincingly. Finally, the vote of thanks was proposed by the
Head of the History Department Dr. Zoheb
Hasan.
