CELEBRATION OF THE BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF DR. APJ ABDUL KALAM

15th October 2022 was celebrated as ‘Reading Inspiration Day’ to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. He is a sought-after personality, especially among students. The Maharashtra Government declared 15th October 2022 the birth anniversary of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam to celebrate as ‘Reading Inspiration Day’ to honour his hard work, dedication, and determination that encompassed his remarkable life.
On the occasion, the Poona College Knowledge Resource Centre
celebrated the day as “Library Open Day” where staff and students of Poona
College visited the Library and spent time referring to the books of their choice.
Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh inaugurated the event and
addressed the students that the library is the place where knowledge can be
gathered and we are committed to fulfilling all the information needs of all
the students. He encourages students to visit the library, assuring the books
recommended by them will be procured provided they should read and develop the
reading habit.
Dr. Muhammad Zuber also briefs the students about library
services. He informed the students that the library is presently has 70000+
physical books, e-books 7,99,500 and e-journals 6000+. The library collection
is so vast that it can provide reading material almost on all topics.
The members of the library staff provided an exclusive
service to the students for locating the desired book in the book stack room
and through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue).
Amongst the members of the teaching staff - Mr. Musharraf
Husaain, Dr. Saleem Maniyar, Dr. Afreen Ahmed, Dr. Gulab Pathan, visited the
library.
