Birth Anniversary of Padma Shri Prof. Dr. S. R. Ranganathan as National Librarian’s Day 2024 organized at Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune

August 12, 2024, Poona College of Arts, Science, and Commerce celebrated
National Librarian's Day with a special address on 'Reading and Writing – A
Best Hobby' by renowned Marathi Literature Writer Dr. Anjali Kulkarni. The
event, organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the
Department of Library and Information Science, commemorated the birth
anniversary of Padma Shri Prof. Dr. S. R. Ranganathan.
Dr.
Shaikh Shakir introduced the Guest of Honour, Dr. Anjali Kulkarni, while Dr.
Amjad Shaikh (Vice-Principal) delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the
significance of reading and writing in acquiring knowledge.
Dr.
Anjali Kulkarni's keynote speech highlighted the importance of National
Librarian's Day and encouraged students to engage in reading and writing
activities. She shared her personal experience, stressing the value of
recording important points, writing reviews, and reflecting on the emotional
impact of what one reads.
The
program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shaikh Muhammad Zuber,
Coordinator and Librarian. Over 100 students and staff members attended the
event, including Dr. Gulab Pathan, Dr. Sayyed Iliyas, Dr. Imran Qureshi Dr.
Javed Akhtar and Miss. Shabista Shaikh.
